Resistell is developing the world’s fastest Antibiotic Susceptibility Test (AST) which helps doctors in hospitals to find the right antibiotic treatment for the patient. The conventional methods of assessing microbial susceptibility to antibiotics take about 1-2 days to get the results, or up to a week for slowly growing pathogens.

Terapet is a Geneva-based MedTech startup. The company was founded in 2019 by three founders: me, Marcus Palm (CTO) and Professor Raymond Miralbell (CSO). Prof Raymond was the former radiation oncology department head at the University Hospital of Geneva and today he’s the Medical Director at the First Proton Therapy Centre in Spain.

I have a master’s degree in bioengineering and courses from the medical faculties, as it was a twin programme. I then got a PhD in industrial engineering and physical chemistry, with a focus on translational regenerative medicine. Gianni, the other founder, holds a PhD from King’s College. At the time we were in London, and we decided to do something when we would have returned to Italy.

We are offering a remote monitoring solution for patients of neurological disorders. We integrated our sensing technology in comfortable sneaker-like shoes to collect data from patients during daily activities. This is interesting for patients with movement problems such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, dementia, and stroke. Most of the elderly population can benefit from our solution.
